In terris Gryphi
Pomerania’s rich cultural and historical heritage can still be experienced in the region in a variety of ways today. There are clearly visible traces – monuments, historic buildings, avenues or milestones – but also those that first need to be brought to light again, such as historic maps, often lovingly designed, or postcards and photographs, as well as historic travel guides and literary works. We will make these available online in the long term and also present them directly on site, including through exhibitions throughout the region.
Our aim
The aim of our project is, above all, to make these ‘less visible traces’ – the valuable cultural heritage of Pomerania, which is usually only accessible via archives, libraries or museums – available digitally and freely to everyone. Historical traces are to be made traceable once more, and traditions worth knowing are to be made better known through maps, timelines and suggested tours, which offer both locals and tourists new insights into the Pomeranian cultural landscape.
Together
German and Polish libraries, institutes and archives, museums and associations are working together across borders, using state-of-the-art technology to raise awareness of Pomeranian treasures – including through this website, which is multilingual and free of charge. Via this site, you can access digitised cultural treasures in the MV Digital Library easily, quickly and precisely, whether you’re on a tour or reading up from home.
