In the Land of the Griffin
Brief profile of the project partners

German and Polish libraries, institutes and archives are working together across borders and using state-of-the-art technology to promote Pomeranian treasures: Here we are during the kick-off meeting in 2025. Across all our sites, our team is even larger: a total of 26 staff members and 13 student assistants are involved in the project, at least to some extent.

The University Library of Greifswald is the lead partner in this project. The project team is responsible for the professional digitisation of local collections as well as public relations in the project. Moreover, they coordinate events, exhibitions and conferences for the project.

The Książnica Pomorska (The Pomeranian Library) in Szczecin is also digitising various collections, curating an exhibition on Pomerania’s historical heritage, and preparing its own travel guide, Mysterious Pomerania, as well as a school textbook on the history of Pomerania.

The Institute of Geography and Geology at the University of Greifswald is taking part with a team of dedicated researchers and geodata specialists. Specialising in GIS and remote sensing, they contribute maps as well as their expertise on geographical information and iT/web development to the project.

The State Office for Road Construction and Transport in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania supports the digitisation of road construction documents from the State Archives of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is currently preparing its own permanent exhibition on the history of road construction.
