Curiosities in the files

A note in a file

Greifswald – The files on historical road construction frequently contain documents one would not expect to find there. This was apparently a way to save paper: notes were typed or scribbled on the backs of official documents, and the information was preserved along with the notes. For example, a file from 1939 contains three cards with data on individuals who were stripped of their German citizenship (LAMV, 5.12-3/1, No. 22458). The Preußischer Staatsanzeiger, in which these notices were officially published, has already been digitized by the Mannheim University Library and can be found here.
